We use this device for a somewhat unusual purpose: weekly weighing of a family member who, unfortunately, is an invalid and cannot use a conventional scale. We have an overhead track system by which we move her from bed to wheelchair or bathing area. We simply insert this device between the motorized lifting mechanism and the sling in which she rides. By first loading the sling onto the scale, then turning it on, the scale automatically compensates for the sling's weight. When we remove the empty sling from the scale, the sling's weight appears as a negative number. Then, when we put her in the sling and raise it up, the scale shows her weight less the sling. We don't have to do any subtracting. So far, the device has been excellent.
