Purchased these hooks specifically for the winter steelhead run on the Mad River in Northern California. The 100 lot is the only way to go for me because I tend to catch more snags than fish. But, when I do find a fish more dumb than the rest of his friends the hooks do their job quite well. They are plenty sharp enough to stick the guy tying them on the line if he is not careful (just like the fish he is trying to catch). I would like to have a barb on the hook to increase the chances of landing these tough fighting fish but the Mad River is a "barbless" stream so a guy does what he must to keep the guy in green happy. These hooks are strong and sharp and definitely do the do the job. No more sharpening stone. The price is right too. For the cost of the stone a person can get a couple years supply of superior hooks. Happy fishing and don't forget the Mad River in the winter. There are plenty of snags for all of us.
