I have become a "Minimalist" when it comes to running shoes. Even before reading "Born to Run" (by Doug McDougall) I've been running exclusively in racing flats. After reading the book, I had to try out the Vibram five-fingers, but they just didn't work for me (I have a crooked little toe from an old poorly-healed fracture, and the five-fingers wanted to force this a direction it didn't want to go). I still wanted a lightweight shoe; roomy enough to leave my toe alone. For me, this has narrowed down to the Asics Hyperspeed 4.

Advantages: Extremely lightweight. Thin sole. Low cost (usually less than $70. A huge relief over the $130 shoes I used to buy). Even the design and trim look leaner and less cluttered than its predecessor, the Hyperspeed 3.

Disadvantages: Perhaps no surprise, but they wear out quickly. Having said this, I can usually eke out 250 miles or more per pair. But when they wear out, they really disintigrate in a hurry. Another problem is that the "holes" in the uniquely designed sole (which helps them to be lightweight) seem to suck up tiny little pebbles. So far, my only solution to this is to select my running routes carefully.

I have run two half-marathons withe these, with no problems. And this includes all my training as well.

I just used this with our toddler at an indoor water park. She's 32lb and 38" tall. It fit perfectly and didn't ride up or hinder her crazy running around and climbing at all. The only problem that we had was when she was in free water without my hand supporting, it was a non-stop barrel rolls ending with face down in the water, though I think that is more of a toddler issue than life vest.

Native Eyewear Cable Sunglasses, Gunmetal with Silver Reflex (Gray) Lens Review

I first came across these sunglasses in an REI store while I was traveling. I was immediately impressed with just how comfortable they are and how well they fit, let me just come out and say it, my very large head (size 8 hat size). I was tempted to buy them right then and there, but I looked them up on Amazon and Amazon offered them (at the time) for roughly $40 less than the list price (the price at which REI was selling them). So, when REI refused to price match, I ordered them on-line here at Amazon.

Bottom line, these sunglasses are amazing. Polarized, well-constructed, comfortably-fitting and a great price. They also come with a very sturdy, zippered case, a cloth bag for further protection/cleaning and additional, interchangeable lenses. An outstanding deal.

Plus, given that these appear to be made for those with larger-sized heads, I find that I can wear these all day for just about any activity (fishing, driving, working, etc.) and they do not bother me. Former problem spots like the bridge of my nose (which has been broken several times during my boxing career), my temples, behind my ears, etc., all are problems no more. These sunglasses fit comfortably and provide excellent visibility and protection.

I can't recommend these highly enough. I wish I would have discovered them long ago, but, better late than never.

BARSKA 2X30 Red Dot Quick Target Riflescope Review

I bought this for my S&W M&P 15-22 and I am very impressed with it. The optics are clear and the 2X magnification is really great. It doesn't have a fancy reticle like the expensive ones. It really is just a small red dot, but it works, and with the 11 position dimmer control for the red dot, it works great inside a range or out in full sunshine.

This is obviously not a combat ready device, and the lens caps are plastic that you pull off and put in your pocket, but for the price, this thing is amazing. I love it.

Why would anybody pay over $70 for a bike rack when you can get a perfectly functional one for $25?

The answer is basically aesthetics. If you like the way it looks, and don't plan to use it with panniers that will hide the way it looks, the purchase may make sense for you. If your needs are more utilitarian, there are more appropriate alternatives.

Pro: curved lines, painted metal, wooden platform, and ships with basic hardware for attaching it to a road bike. Adjusts to fit many different frame geometries.

Con: This rack is expensive and heavy

Warnings: It's long, and would be inappropriate on most smaller bikes or folding bikes. The mounting stays that ship with it were too small for the tubes on my bike, and I think many people will end up buying larger ones (like Delta Cycle Stay Mount Oversize Clamps) or a monostay adapter (Sunlite Bicycle Monostay Adapter).
