This is a nice scale to have around the house. I am able to weight my bike(s) with it as well as little parts. I even use it occasionally as a postal scale. To weight the small stuff, I just put the items in a plastic grocery bag and hang it from the hook. The spring (weighing) mechanism rattles when you handle the scale, but overall durability seems pretty good. One word of caution though: The batteries that come with this (4'AAA') are those super-cheap non-alkaline type (I didn't even know they still made those!!!), and after about a year inside they will corrode and leak some bad stuff inside. My advice would be to go to Walmart (or Target), pick-up a set of decent batteries for $1.99 and toss the ones that come with this ASAP. Unless you run a bike shop, there will probably be a period of time when you don't use this (several months) which will be enough time for the cheap batteries to die and begin to leak.
